Biography

Rocky Smith is a multimedia craft artist (born 2004, Northville, MI) who lives and works in Detroit, MI. They are currently working towards their BFA at the College for Creative Studies, and are employed through the work-study program in both the Fibers and Ceramics Departments. Rocky’s practice explores ideas of comfort, beauty, trauma, and sensory interaction. Their lifetime of living with disability is conveyed through ceramic and fiber, stemming from their experience as an autistic person. Utilizing visually appealing palettes and a variety of textures, they channel their obsessive creative force into functional objects, decorative displays, and moments in time.
